J'ai pris quelques jours de repos. Le ciel était bleu, la mer était belle, et l'intégralité de mes interactions avec des hommes étaient du harcèlement de rue. Tu parles d'un repos... Quand l’artiste Ibticem Larbi crée cette illustration pour Gaze Nº3, on a eu l'envie de la porter comme un étendard presque immédiatement. C’est notre t-shirt « Not All Men », avec, au dos, une femme qui vous regarde avec force, en transperçant une paire d'yeux baladeurs de ses ongles pointus. Je me demandais pourquoi c’était mon t-shirt préféré parmi tout notre beau merch. C’est un manifeste qui coule dans ce tracé bleu électrique : on ne baissera plus le regard. —Mélissa Chidiac
Dear you,
I took a few days off. The sky was blue, the sea was beautiful, and every single interaction I had with a man was street harassment. Talk about a rest... When the artist Ibticem Larbi created this illustration for Gaze Nº3, we wanted to wear it like a flag immediately. I'm talking about our “Not All Men” teeshirt, with a woman staring straight out at you on the back, with piercing eyes and sharp nails. I wondered why this was my favourite T-shirt out of all our cool merch. It's a manifesto in electric blue: we won’t be made to look down anymore. —Mélissa Chidiac

Cette œuvre d'Etel Adnan m'a marquée à jamais par sa sensibilité. C'est un récit très court mais juste, poétique et bouleversant qui parle de la complexité et de l'impact des langues que nous décidons de parler, celles qu'on nous force à apprendre, et l'histoire qu'elles remuent lorsque nous les utilisons.
The sensitivity of this particular work by Etel Adnan has marked me forever. Short but accurate, it's a poetic and moving story about the impact of the languages we decide to speak, the ones we are forced to learn, and the history they stir up when we use them.
"MICHIKO & HATCHIN", SAYO YAMAMOTO (2008)
Une histoire délirante entre conflits de gangs, course-poursuites, personnages féminins charismatiques, bande-son incroyable, le tout dans un décor brésilien. Sayo Yamamoto ne tente pas de sublimer ou d'adoucir une vision des femmes, au contraire elle nous dépeint autant de personnalités aussi brutes que réelles dans leurs désirs, regrets, amitiés, et ambitions.
A wild story of gang warfare, car chases, ultra-charismatic female characters, and an incredible soundtrack, all set in Brazil. Sayo Yamamoto doesn't soft-soap her vision of women; on the contrary, she portrays personalities as raw as they are real, in their desires, regrets, friendships and ambitions.
