Et puis je dois dire que j’ai toujours beaucoup d’affection pour les frondeuses, et pour les œuvres qui abordent l’amitié entre femmes.
Three teenage girls on an avid quest for freedom from the economic and patriarchal violence of their small mountain village in Kosovo. Luàna Bajrami, who is only 18 years old at the time of shooting, instantly places us at the side of her heroines. We vibrate with them. And I must say that I always have a great affection for rebel women, and for works that deal with friendship between women.

J’ai beau lire de très nombreux essais féministes, la fiction reste pour moi un outil de transmission puissant. Elle fait appel à ma mémoire émotionnelle : pas besoin de maîtriser de théorie pour comprendre les deux héroïnes Lila et Lenù et faire des liens avec mon propre vécu. Au-delà d’être une critique de la société patriarcale italienne, Ferrante nous donne à voir un constellation de femmes, leur complexité, leur force, leur douleur.
Although I have read many, many feminist essays, fiction remains for me a powerful transmission tool. It appeals to my emotional memory, so I don't need to master advanced theory to understand the two heroines Lila and Lenù and think of my own experience as a woman. Beyond being a critique of Italian patriarchal society, Ferrante shows us a constellation of bonds between women, their complexity, their strength, their pain.

Une femme, noire, qui rappe, qui parle de sexualité, d’agentivité. Pour moi, elle est l’une des première a apporter le féminisme dans la musique mainstream. C’est une artiste affranchie du male gaze, qui a aussi collaboré avec énormément de femmes, et écrit pour des artistes féminines, comme l'iconique tube de Ciara 1,2 Step. Je trouve ça inspirant, cette envie de collectivité et de faire briller les autres.
A black woman, rapping, talking about sexuality, agentivity. For me, she is one of the first to bring feminism into mainstream music. She's an artist who has broken free from male gaze, who has also collaborated with a lot of women, and written for female artists, like Ciara's iconic hit 1,2 Step. I find it inspiring, this desire for community and to make others shine.
