Je me dis que j'ai bien fait d'interviewer Betony Vernon par téléphone, sinon j'aurais été éblouie par sa prestance. À 54 ans, la créatrice de bijoux é de luxe, autrice et hypnothérapeute porte le flambeau de la libération sexuelle, enflammé par ses prédécesseures américaines. Un soir d'automne, elle me confie les femmes de sa vie, pour la rubrique Panthéon Personnel de Gaze N°5. De Mae West à Shere Hite, en passant par Jane Fonda et sa meilleure amie "rencontrée à une soirée chez Elton John", j'ai davantage l'impression de faire le casting d'un film hollywoodien qu'écrire un article. Betony Vernon, elle, n'a pas perdu le fil : "Merci de raconter nos histoires. Si on ne parle pas des femmes, on les oublie. Et ça, ce n’est pas une option." I thought that it would be best to interview Betony Vernon by phone, so as not to be dazzled by her physical presence. At 54, the designer of luxury erotic jewelry,author and hypnotherapist carries the torch of sexual liberation, ignited by her American predecessors. One Autumn evening, she opened up to me about the women in her life, for the Personal Pantheon section of Gaze N°5. From Mae West to Shere Hite, Jane Fonda and her best friend, who she "met at a party at Elton John's house", I feel more like I'm casting a glamorous film than writing an article. Betony Vernon, on the other hand, hasn't lost the plot: "Thank you for telling our stories. If we don't talk about women, we forget them. And that's not an option." It is an highly erotic movie that led Jane Campion to be the first female director to receive the Palme d'Or as well as an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Women like her who make it to the top of a male-dominated field inspire me to reach for the top!

Virginia Woolf a été l'une des premières femmes à célébrer ouvertement l'émancipation féminine et la fluidité des genres au XXe siècle. J'ai lu Orlando et Une Chambre à soi pendant mon adolescence. Ces deux livres ont changé ma vie à jamais.
